Claim: Successful people have a sense of gratitude.

Reality Check: Gratitude is beneficial for well-being and can help maintain motivation, but success isn’t built on gratitude alone. Success requires focused effort, goal-setting, and a critical approach to self-improvement. Research consistently shows that setting specific, challenging goals is one of the most effective ways to achieve high performance. For example, a meta-analysis by Locke and Latham (2002) found that goal-setting significantly enhances task performance across various contexts. Moreover, critically evaluating one’s own performance and making adjustments is crucial for continuous improvement and achieving long-term success (Zimmerman & Schunk, 2011).
