What is the 360Scan?

The 360Scan is a way for a manager to get anonymous and therefore honest feedback from a wide variety of people around them. 

After 2 weeks the manager will have a elaborate report that explains strengths and weaknesses on the competencies of their choice.

The manager can then use this information to become a better manager. Nobody else will see the report. 

The Preparation

Once you submit your email address and your name during payment, you will receive an email with a link to the start of the scan  (also check your Spam folder!) You will choose 3 competencies that you wish to focus on. You will be asked to rate yourself on these competencies. 

Then you select your raters (min 3, max 10). They will receive a heads-up email that you can create in the tool. Then they will receive the invitation to give feedback. They will give numerical and textual feedback. 

The report

14 days after the invites were sent the system will analyze all the input, create the report and send it to you. It will contain the following sections: 

  1. Your rating versus the raters’ rating for your competencies
  2. An analysis of the difference
  3. A summary of what the raters said in the open questions, regarding what you should continue to do, stop and start doing.
  4. Five specific coaching questions to help you reflect and three pieces of advice based on all of the above.

How to read the results

The report starts with the bar charts that show the difference between how you rated yourself (in blue) and how the raters rated you (in yellow). 

This is of course very interesting information about the perception of the raters. Do you score some items higher than your team, then you have something to think about: are you showing the particular behaviors enough? Or maybe you were underestimating yourself on some items?

In the report are some tips on how to deal with the differences.

The textual part

The raters were asked what you should stop doing. Maybe this is something you have never realized! There is also information about your strong points, when they answered what you should continue to do. There are also ideas on what you could potentially start doing. All this information is summarized for your convenience. 
Based on this information the report gives you 5 useful coaching questions that you can use for self-reflection. Lastly, the report gives 3 pieces of advice on how you can further grow, given the feedback you received. 

The competencies

The competencies that you can choose from are grouped in competency groups. Every group consists of 3-4 competencies and each competency has about 4 items. You can pick and choose the competencies that you are most curious about, or that you value the most. All the  competencies together give a broad overview of what competencies are expected of a world-class leader.

What to do when you have received the report?

What to keep in mind in general

Keep calm. The report contains so much useful information, that you need to read it a few times. Then make a top 3 of useful tips that you want to implement. Then approach those tips one by one.

measure the impact

When you have taken sufficient action to improve, for example after 3 months, you should measure the impact. You can use the 360scan again and choose the same competencies to see the improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How anonymous is this? 

A: As a rater, as soon as you have submitted your response, your email address gets encrypted in such a way that even the owner of the website cannot  unscramble it. That way your input can never be linked to your email address. When you receive the invitation to give feedback, there is also a link that gives the possibility to delete your response at any time. 

For the user who asked for the feedback: you are the only person who will receive the report and you can delete the entire scan data at any point in time through the delete link in your email. 

Q: Who should I choose as my raters?

A: It is smart to choose a wide variety of people (max 10)  to create a true 360° view of how you are perceived. The tool gives you the option to craft a “heads-up” e-mail to the raters in which you can explain why you chose them. 

Q: I was asked to rate. Should I be completely honest?

A: Yes, please! That way, the person who asked you for the feedback can really use it for their development. Your feedback will be mixed with other raters’ feedback and the person will get a summarized version. 

Q: What happens if not enough raters (3) have filled in the feedback after the 2 weeks period?

A: The report will not get created until 3 raters have filled in the feedback. The system will keep looking for their feedback and will craft the report as soon as the third feedback comes in. 

Q: How much time will this take?

A: Roughly 10 minutes to set it up and send out the invites to raters. Then 2 weeks of waiting for them to complete the feedback. When you get the report, the development can start and can take a lifetime!

Q: Will the report be in English?

A: It will be in the language you choose when you set it up (Vietnamese or English)

Q: Do I need to get approval to use this?

A: No.
